Not much to tell. I'm always going with this project or gig or that project or gig. But when I'm ready for a break, I "hermit" in the woods with books, PS2 games, cds and movies.

March 20: Musicians Advisory Council

This month's meeting of the Musician's Advisory Council (MAC) to the Memphis & Shelby County Music Commission (MSCMC) will be held on Monday evening, 3/20/06, from 6-8pm in the Board Room of the Emerge Memphis offices, located at 516 Tennessee Street in downtown Memphis (ph. 312-7700). MAC meetings are a unique forum within our music community that are conceived & moderated by musicians, made up of musicians, & address the specific needs & issues associated with being a working musician within the Memphis Music Community & beyond - with a specific focus on positive, forward motion & solution-oriented goals.

Our next meeting will focus on three specific agenda items, namely:

1.) Nashid Madyun will be our guest speaker. He is the Executive Director of 'Discoveries of Gibson' (which is a nonprofit division of Gibson Musical Instruments), and he will be speaking on Gibson's new "Pure Touch" program, which is a community outreach initiative geared towards generating grassroots assistance to all working musicians within the Memphis Music Community and beyond. On Thursday, 3/30/06, they will host an informal kickoff to a monthly series, which will bring in established songwriters and other industry professionals to provide insight into how they created and sustained their way in the Professional Music Industry. Feel free to contact Nashid with any additional questions at:

2.) Further formulation work on our newest MAC initiative, the creation of a new annual, local music awards show similar to (yet distinctively different from) the Premier Player Awards to honor and recognize the everyday Memphis musicians and music-related businesses that create, drive & inspire our local music community.

3.) Additional work on the 2006 Court Square Concert Series: Creating a list of potential bands to book, & further discussions concerning the specific details of the concert series (to maximize the overall success of the project, etc.)

In addition, WE NOW HAVE A NEW MAC WEBSITE LOCATED AT:

PLEASE CHECK IT OUT, & HELP US SPREAD THE WORD!!!

Again, thanks so much for your time and consideration.

Take care!
